Finley L. Newman-James

Finley L. Newman-James is an Associate Attorney in our Central Ohio office, located in Canal Winchester, and our main office of over 100 years, located in Lancaster, Ohio. Appointments with Mr. Newman-James can be arranged at either of our offices or remotely.

A native of northwestern Fairfield County in nearby Pickerington and a graduate of Pickerington North, Mr. Newman-James engages in the general practice of law in and around the Central Ohio area, emphasizing corporate transactional and civil litigation cases. Before joining Dagger Law, he worked at the Columbus office of an AmLaw 200 national law firm, where he worked on various litigation and corporate transactional work.


Mr. Newman-James earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2020. During his time in law school, he served as Business & Marketing Editor for the Ohio State Business Law Journal. Additionally, he was a member of Moritz’s Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinic, where he helped advise emerging small businesses, startups, and local entrepreneurs on various business concerns. These included the formation and incorporation, equity agreements, tax planning, promissory notes, trademark registrations, licensing, employment agreements, brand enforcement & protection for businesses engaged in e-commerce and corporate governance. Furthermore, he served as Treasurer of the Real Estate Law Association.

In 2019, he published The State of Marijuana in The Buckeye State and Fiscal Policy Considerations of Legalized Recreational Marijuana, part of Ohio State’s Drug Enforcement Policy Center’s Paper Series. This paper analyzed the potential financial impacts of a then-current proposed constitutional amendment on Ohio’s state and local governments.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, with a double major in Political Science and Public Administration from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, in 2017.

Kathryn Cornelius-Blume

Ms. Cornelius-Blume’s legal practice includes several years of courtroom experience in the following areas:

Prior to entering into private legal practice, Ms. Cornelius-Blume was employed as a staff attorney at Southeastern Ohio Legal Services (SEOLS). While at SEOLS, she assisted clients with all areas of civil litigation, providing a valuable resource for low-income residents of Southeast Ohio. Ms. Cornelius-Blume found her passion for litigation and trial work while in law school. She was able to obtain valuable first-hand experience by working as a certified legal intern at the Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, serving as a law clerk at Gerhardstein and Branch Co. LPA, and being a judicial extern for Justice Sharon Kennedy at the Ohio Supreme Court.

Kathryn Cornelius-Blume graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in History. She obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, in Ohio, where she served as the Senior Article Editor for the Human Rights Quarterly publication.

Ms. Cornelius-Blume resides in Columbus, Ohio, with her husband and their pets: Watson, their dog, and Little Kitty, their cat. She enjoys running, boxing and cooking in her free time.


R. Mark Bibler

Mr. Bibler’s law career has spanned over three decades, having started his career at Dagger law back in 1984. His past work highlights have included a number of successful multi-million dollar transactions which were completed on behalf of his clients. Today, his practice is focused on the following legal areas:

Mr. Bibler’s loyal clients depend on his deep understanding of the law, and tax code, earned over 35 years of legal practice in Ohio. He helps guide clients in businesses planning, estate planning, and the complex tax law strategies that can be applied to help businesses and families as they work to protect their assets for future generations.

Born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio, Mr. Bibler continues to actively support his Fairfield County community through service work. He is currently serving as Secretary of the Lancaster Board of Parks Commissioners, which is a position that he has held for many years.

R. Mark Bibler graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University with a business degree and, in 1981, he received his Juris doctor degree, with honors, from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, though his license is currently inactive.

Jeff J. Spangler

Mr. Spangler has been engaged in the general practice of law since 2004. With over 15 years as a practicing attorney, Mr. Spangler has worked to establish himself as a trusted and experienced advisor to both local and regional banks as well as other financial institutions. He assists bank clients in key areas, including:

  • Negotiation and implementation of complex commercial transactions
  • Secured transaction laws and regulations
