Brian D. Shonk ~

Mr. Shonk
represents businesses and banks with regard to
financial, organizational and general business planning
matters. He has successfully litigated and resolved a
broad spectrum of business, banking and credit rights
disputes, including bankruptcy and workout matters. In
addition, he has assisted clients in successfully
completing large and small acquisitions, mergers,
reorganizations, and related business transactions.
Brian’s focus on financial matters and business affairs
also extends to estate planning, trusts and probate
matters for individuals and families. In addition, he is
available to assist clients with oil and gas matters.
Mr. Shonk
was the President of the Fairfield County Bar
Association from 1995-1996. He is also a member of the
Columbus, Ohio State and Massachusetts State bar
associations. He has published articles in law journals
on labor law, and has presented continuing legal
education seminars on various bankruptcy and mechanic’s
lien issues to both trade organizations and other
attorneys.
A
Lancaster native, Mr. Shonk serves on the Boards of
Directors for the Lancaster-Fairfield Chamber of
Commerce, Fisher Catholic Foundation, Fairfield Center
for Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy, the Special
Improvement District for Lancaster, and the Fairfield
County Hospice’s Ethics Committee. He also serves on the
Executive Committee for the United Way of Fairfield
County, having been named Chairman of the 2012 Annual
Campaign. He has served as the President/Chairman of
several other non-profit and charitable Boards of
Directors in the past.
Mr. Shonk
received his law degree, magna cum laude, from
Boston College Law School in 1986, was inducted into the
Order of the Coif, and served as Articles Editor of the
college’s law review. He graduated with a bachelor’s
degree in economics and English, cum laude, from
Case Western Reserve University. He also is a graduate
of William V. Fisher Catholic High School in Lancaster.
